报告人简介：

Dr.Quan(Sophia)Heis a professor of chemical engineering in the Department of Engineering,Faculty ofAgriculture, Dalhousie University.Prior to this appointment, she worked as a PDF at University of Waterloo. She was an assistant/associate professor at Ningbo University of Technology (1994-2015), where she taughtchemicalengineering courses and led herresearchgroup working onreaction and separation engineering. From 1990 to 2004, she served as a process engineer in Heilongjiang Province Compute Research and Application Center, China.

She receivedher PhD degree in Chemical& BiochemicalEngineering fromWestern Universityin 2010,herM.Sc. in 2004, and B.Sc. in 1990 fromEast ChinaUniversity ofScience and Technologyrespectively.

She has been active in the field of reaction and separation engineering for more than 20 years with 70+ peer-reviewed publications and three patents. Herresearchinterests include development of bioenergy and value-added bioproducts from low value biomass, synthesis and application of catalysts, development of new wood preservatives and optimization of wood preservation process. For recent ten years, she has secured $3M research funding working on biomass conversion and the development of green and sustainable wood treatment processes.She is arecipient of Award of Excellence in Research Dalhousie University andNSERC/MITACS postdoctoralfellowships.
